Eugenie and Eugene were proud of their brood.
“Let’s play peek-a-boo!” said Eugene…
“Don’t be ridiculous, ” said Eugenie amazed at her partner’s stupidity!

“Ooooh look!” said Eugene, “I can make scary ghosts with my shadow!”
Eugene just had to look away!

I found these in Turkey and they are from the Family-True Shieldbugs (Pentatomidae) with the other name of Eurydema Ornata!!

Soldier Beetles and a Bid to Take Over the World!!

In the fields behind my house are a multitude of insects but none so numerous as the Soldier Beetle….just look…..

Yes, most of the cow parsley is covered with them!

But what is this plan to take over the world?

If you look hard enough you can see just why there are so many of them!!!

These next ones obviously fancy a change of venue…after all, ‘A change is as good as a rest!’

These two photos I have posted before but I rather like them!

And this is what they do afterwards….maybe?

Off for a drink with their mates!!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Between 2

If you saw my first entry for this you would see that I used the way in as “between you and me”.

I am going to use this cunning plan again!

So “between you and me”, I didn’t know that so many little critters liked the cornflowers in the field behind my house……

Isn’t he gorgeous!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Extra Extra 2

Whilst walking in the fields behind our house I saw some rather lovely white harebells. ‘Whoopee!’ thought I, ‘Time for a photo!’ So over I went! I knelt down and……

….took the photo!

Well if Mr. Green Bulgy Legged Beetle isn’t a moment for ‘Extra Extra’, I don’t know what is!!

I took a closer look (as always!).

So did Mr. Green Bulgy Legged Beetle!

He looked a little harder!

He assessed that I seemed ok and….

….spun around revealing a rather fine thigh!!

But look at his beautiful last pose for me…He almost doesn’t look real!

Just Beetling About!

There I was, in the field behind our house, having a pleasant afternoon walk! But me oh my, what a lot of beetles about today!

First off I noticed a shield bug…we shall call him Sheldon!

Sheldon went round….

and round…..

and round the dandelion clock!

Then he had a good look round and a sniff (which I think they do through their antennae!!)

Then he had a good look at me……

…and promptly turned and left!

Then here’s Lily…yes Lily Beetle!

And finally, may I present Susie and Steve Soldier Beetle getting very cosy on a dandelion stalk!

Ooh Susie and Steve….what are you up to??

“Is she still there?” asks Susie.

“Nah, don’t think so!” said Steve!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Shiny

Oh how I love ‘shiny’!

Shiny things always pull my eyes! It’s a bit of a joke in my house!!

Anyway, just arrived back from Turkey holiday and wanted to show you my beautiful shiny beetles!

Take the Turkish poppy…..shiny? A bit…..but not shiny enough!

But look at what was inside the next poppy…which must have been somewhat tasty judging by the kerfuffle going on inside…..

Let me introduce you to Eulasia Papavaris (and his friends!)

Now if Goldie in the middle there ain’t shiny, then I don’t know what is!

 

Goldie, Greeny and Pinky-head make a cosy threesome of shine!

 

Ay oop! Is that five of them now?

 

Must be very exciting in that poppy head!

They are also known as bumble bee scarab beetles!

I think they’re lined up ready to find another poppy!

Yep….I’m satisfied with my shiny entry on Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Shiny.
