So, Spring is here and these two male pigeons (Percutio and Pomeo) have obviously felt the sap rising!
They have been fighting and fighting over a certain female pigeon (Paloma)!
Here’s them in a slight stand off pose…..
But with the cunning of those who practise Tai Chi……
Pomeo propels himself upwards in a counter attack…
Pomeo remembers the Griffin pose, taught by the ancient pigeons of London and begins his counter attack for real!!
Pomeo is back in control and Percutio knows he’s in trouble…..
They then both swoop off and land on the shed roof where it continues with Pomeo holding his ground with the
“Come a step nearer and I’ll clock you one round the side of your feathered head mate” stance again…..
Meanwhile Paloma Pigeon watches……

Thank you-it’s quite a show every day at the moment! 🙂
Percutio and Pomeo, eh ? – I think The Bard has gone to yer head. [grin] But in all seriousness, this is actually a MARVELLOUS sequence, Lizzie ! – who has ever seen pigeons battling ? Pas moi … And I LOVE the griffin stance: I’ve certainly never seen that in all my years …
Well the griffin stance is my favourite. I got loads of pics and it maybe that they may have to feature in another post! N
It’ll tax yer inventiveness. 😀
Normally ( if only I’d let myself finish!) the pigeons are being saucy on my back fence and I’ve never seen it before either! 🙂
Never! 🙂
True ! 😀
I enjoyed the humor and photos of this post very much!
Thank you very much! 🙂
crouching pigeon, hidden pigeon … 🙂
Ooh I like that, made me laugh!! Thanks 🙂
but if they don sunglasses and black trenchcoats, and start fighting in slo-mo, I’m going to have to change that remark to something Matrix-y. 🙂
Excellent…love it. Wonder if I can get some photos to inspire those comments!! Let’s hope they are still feisty today! 🙂
it’s spring. birds are always … uh … feisty around this time of the year. 🙂
Yes, feisty is a nice polite description of those lusty birds! 😉
LOL! 🙂
This is hysterical! Thank you for posting this. I needed a laugh!
