Macro Monday

A little while ago I did a post about what I found out to be Colt’s Foot-a very pretty dandelion like flower. Well see what’s happened to her now!

But I also wanted to add these three photos of the new leaves on a copper beech tree…

Beautiful Butterfly….The Orange Tip!

This butterfly is the female Orange Tip and thus, for some reason, does not have orange tips on her wings like the male! She, Olive Orange-Tip, had just emerged from her chrysalis and stayed on one of our narcissus for nearly 2 days…from the shock I think, for ’twas windy in my garden that day.

"Don't think I can't see you Missus!" said Olive Orange-Tip in an authoritative way! Sadly the truth was, even though Olive's eyes seemed to be focused on me, she hadn't got the hang of seeing just yet!

“Don’t think I can’t see you Missus!” said Olive Orange-Tip in an authoritative way! Sadly the truth was, even though Olive’s eyes seemed to be focused on me, she hadn’t got the hang of seeing just yet!

In fact, one might even go so far as saying that Olive's eyes were spinning!

In fact, one might even go so far as saying that Olive’s eyes were spinning and making her need to hold on tight to that narcissus!!

"Wait a minute," she said, "Oh yes….there you are….are you my mummy?"

“Wait a minute,” she said, “Oh yes….there you are….are you my mummy?”

And I always thought that it was just ducks and geese who thought the first thing they saw was their dear mama!

Isn't Olive amazing?

Do you know, I think I have felt just how Olive Orange-Tip looks quite a few times in my life!!

Weekly Photo Challenge: On Top 4

Today I am feeling very pleased and excited with the photos I have taken on my walk this afternoon. You could say I feel ‘on top’ of the world, or even ‘on top’ form! And that’s my tentative link with Weekly Photo Challenge!

This little female chaffinch was just sitting in the hedgerow with what I thought was a catkin in her beak! My son had just rung me, so I was talking on the phone when I noticed her….

I kept talking to my son and turned on my camera with my other hand!

I kept talking to my son and turned on my camera with my other hand!

She, Cheryl Chaffinch, seemed very happy so stay where she was, which is more than I can say for what I now know to be the caterpillar squashed in her beak!

IMG_2914 IMG_2915

As you can see, I couldn’t stop taking photos of her whilst my son waited patiently on the phone!
