My second selection of Orange photos for the Photo Challenge features a Turkish Kingfisher which might be yalıçapkını in Turkish (yalerchapkerner for an English phonetic version!) though this was one of three possibilities of his Turkish name that I found!
Anyway, here he is….
See Ya xx
Adorable small feathered animal, Lizzie ! I am always surprised to recall the relationship between these little creatures and our rather large kookaburra …

Well blow me down….I didn’t know there was a relationship! But when I was in Australia I’m sure I saw one more similar to the uk kingfisher….do you have them as well?
We do.

He’s lovely 🙂
A wonderful capture of a beautiful creature. Nicely done!
Thank you 🙂
beautiful shots of this kingfisher!! I’m sooo envious, Elle! 🙂
Oh we have our envies of each other’s birdlife don’t we! Swap you a kingfisher for a hummingbird…but where shall we meet!! 😉
ROTFL … somewhere in the middle of The Pond? 😉
Is there a convenient and appropriate island there? …if there is I could be on my way!!!
haha, probably not … but I’d have to Google Earth it, just to be sure!!! 😀
Ah well, we’ll have to make do and mend with the birds we have as someone used to say! 😉
This guy was definitely eyeing you and not the fish for dinner.
Cheeky chap! But when he went for the dive at a fish, it was amazing and very fast indeed! Thanks Fiona xx
That is the Turkish kingfisher I am referring to.
But of course!! 😉
Your bird shots are amazing.
Thank you very much 🙂
