Whilst out walking today I saw what i presumed was something that had come out of a bird and onto a little hawthorn trying to make it’s way in life! Something, however, prompted me to look closer……at which point I thought….”Damn it all, it’s alive!”
You see at first it was lying flat but then it seemed to rear up!
This is a second ‘thing’ that also reared up as I came in close with my camera!
It was about half a centimetre long.
Now the next photo ain’t great but I wanted to show you the ‘thing’ in its flat version before I disturbed it with my camera!
Odd or what?
So if anyone knows….please let me know!

A while later and some research completed……I can reveal it’s a fruit slugworm!
Layers of seaweed from a Devon beach….

So my other two sets of photos for this challenge have all been about my garden spiders and the lines of their webs and the patterns on their bodies.
I can’t miss out my last few photos as I rather like them!
Meet Spidrina Garden Spider……
Spidrina’s back pattern is slightly different from the other two but I have to say she gets no less stroppy with the camera being thrust rather too close on occasion than the other two!
Stroppy enough, I might add, to retreat to an anemone bud for cover! (It didn’t work as you will see!)
“Surely she won’t see me here!” said Spidrina somewhat innocently!

Whilst visiting my dearest of dear friends to day, we came across these poppies…..
I have not photoshopped, or anything else, any of these photos…..this is really what they looked like!
I think these are rather beautiful….
Hope you agree!

Out for a walk and who should I find but Mr. Blue Heron, flying off in a hurry to get away from me!
Hah! I thought….I’ll get you!
And I did….
Some quite nice photos and a couple that I decided would make interesting ‘playing about with’ photos!
See what you think!
You can’t hide from me!
A little closer…
How kind to give me your right side profile!
And now your left side profile…Lovely!
And oooh again!

Once more at the canal….and the ducks were just sitting, sleeping and generally being rather lazy! They were also totally disregarding me!
Then I noticed a story unfolding….
Meet Duncan Duck in his casual ‘I ain’t doing anything much today’ pose!
Well he wasn’t doing much until that darned strange little green thing emerged from his curly tail feather once more. (Can you see it? It’s very small but it’s certainly there!)
That strange little green thing takes him right out of his comfort zone, distracting him completely, causing pain in places where it’s never good to have pain and he’s off!
….and that way!
Sometimes it makes him jump so much that he pretty much falls off the side! Poor Duncan!
But he’s quick to recover and out he jumps….(There are comments on each of these pictures if you’re interested!)
“Hup we go!”
“Ooh that’s sharp on my feet!”
“Eek! Ook! Ouch!”
“Ah dry land!”
“Now where was I?”
“Oh yes…doing nothing much! Hope that little green thing doesn’t come back!”
Oh oh Duncan, I think you hoped that everything would be alright too soon!
Strange little green thing alert……
But…..oh me oh my……my favourite of all of the shots of Duncan……
Duncan the Super Duck!!
So if you’re ever walking along somewhere and there are ducks nearby…..it’s not you they are afraid of when they leap into the water….
It’s the strange little green thing that lives in their curly tail feather!

At the canal again and I found this, and lots of others, by the edge of the tow path….
“Ah!” said Gordon the grass seed head, “Nice background Ms. Le photographer….well done!”
A very similar photo but featuring a rather kissy plant trying to get in on the action!
I thought this was definitely a grass seed head until I saw this strange sort of join on the stalk. It was then I began to wonder if it was a fungus of some sort!
As you can see, there were lots of them!
This next one seems to be at the next stage…..
And this next one is my sorta arty shot!
If you know what it is…found by a canal in Bedfordshire, the UK, then please let me know!
