Weekly Photo Challenge: Gone, But Not Forgotten 2

It was quite a bright but cold day today which always pleases me in terms of photography!

Now all the trees are bare, there is not much in the way of hiding places for the birds……excellent!

Cheryl Chaffinch fluffed up her feathers against the wind and said, "Oooh I remember when all the leaves were on the trees and I could hide from camera women like 'er down there!…….."

"……mmmm those leaves….'gone but not forgotten I'd say!"

“……mmmm those leaves….’gone but not forgotten’ I’d say!”

Then there’s Stevie Starling feeling all exposed in the tree…..

"Whilst I like the way the winter sun catches the fabulous colours in my feathers, it ain't half cold without those dear 'gone but not forgotten' leaves! postured Stevie!

And as for McFarlane Pheasant (not the brightest of birds I fear!)….

"I'm sure there was wheat in this field the last time I came here….where can it be?" Mcfarlane Pheasant clucked in the field where once indeed, there was wheat…long gone but not forgotten by him!

And I just wanted to pop this slightly odd photo in…..I was trying to take a sort of silhouette of a skylark in a wild rose tree against a rather dramatic backdrop (well done sun!), when he decided to fly off at the exact moment I pressed the shutter…..what do you think?

You should have the starlings in my garden today!

"'ere Steve, you seen woss going on at the Fatballs?" said Sonny Starling!

“‘ere Steve, you seen woss going on at the Fatballs?” said Sonny Starling!

"I said Leave 'em alone…..they're mine all mine!" screeched Stacey Starling in a most unbecoming way!

“I said leave ’em alone…..they’re mine all mine!” screeched Stacey Starling in a most unbecoming way! Starlet Starling sighed and thought “I don’t expect there’s much chance of a dialogue with Stacey in that mood!”

Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background 3

I love watching the birds and over the last few years have noticed that starlings are not as numerous as they were.

However….I have seen more this year and quietly, in the background, they are busy busy busy in my garden getting bugs and flies for their babies….

Look….

Sterling Starling really means business today!

A beakful of food for the babies!

Look at the iridescence of Sterling’s feathers…wow says I!

I can often hear starlings before I see them. To me they sound like they are grating their beaks together-so it’s not the most lovely of sounds, but very distinctive!
