What’s Underneath…..

On a walk around a local park I came across many different fungi and quite a lot of them had been kicked/knocked over, most likely by children….no judgement…..I used to do it myself when I was a child! But what was revealed underneath was rather lovely….

Amethyst Deceiver

Earlier this week I took my grandsons to Cooper’s Hill in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Whilst they were climbing trees and having fun I was spotting fungi. And then I found some purple fungi…..I’ve never seen purple fungi before so I was very excited and out came the trusty camera. Research led me to finding out that they are called Amethyst Deceivers and are edible (though I’m not going to be frying them up for dinner!).

I used the flash on this one hence the brightness.
I think this one is a young ‘un with its little frilly edges!

This is probably going to be the first of a few fungal blogs as there were so many different ones at Cooper’s Hill!

Travel Theme: Green

Well what a great colour…one of my favourites! And it just so happens that Ailsa has chosen this colour for her Travel Theme this week. Check it out at via the following link….

I thought I’d start off with a very soft effect on this first photo…

"Hey!" whispered the moss, "It's Friday night and she's just had a large G and T....my guess is this post won't make much sense! But stick with it, there may be some not bad photos!"

This time ‘Soft Effect with Fungus!’

If I were a fungus, I might very well want to set my roots down in this place!

The next two photos are, I think, of the same sort of species, but one I found lying down and the other seemed to want to stand to attention!

Shoulders back!

Shoulders back!

Then the following one has been adorned with and joined by various fungi!

The large fungus is called "jelly fungus"...Can't think why!

And now…thankfully….I believe my dinner is ready-which is good as I need something to soften down the the effect of the G and T!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details 3

Anywhere I looked in this photo seemed fascinating with such lovely colours….

I haven’t photoshopped this in any way except to crop it a little…The colours are as they were in the woods!

This fungus was just a little further down the same tree.

That’s a Funny Name for a Chaffinch!

Today I’ve had one of those busy doing a lot sort of days but when you get to the end of it you wonder what you have done!

It snowed for most of the day and so it was hard to keep my lens dry and achieve good photos!

Anyway I thought I introduce Chertsey Chaffinch who I first met last week…

"Why is she calling me Chertsey...what a ridiculous name!" snapped Dave Chaffinch!

Then a little further along I saw some sheep on the other side of a stream….the one with the black face stared at me and then stamped her foot!! She seemed quite cross! Then she just appeared to decide to ignore my existence!

"I'd give her what for if she dared to come into this field!" Ewegenie siad bravely, all the while knowing that the woman with the camera would not cross the water anyway!

I rather liked this fungi growing on a tree….

Fergie Fungus tried hard to smile...he just needed a few more weeks!

Up and under!

"Oooh! Cheeky!" said Fergie when he realised where that woman had put her camera!

Anyone for a knobbly knees competition?

A Word a Week Photography Challenge: Round

Passion flowers in my back garden were just so beautiful. Sadly I accidentally killed them off! They didn’t like where I planted them!

I live and learn!

Now, Lupins and the water they catch-wonderful. They are still living in my garden and hoping for another good year!

A great year for fungus in the UK!

These flowers and fungus have all been a-ROUND for a while!

OK I know and I’m sorry for the poor pun! That’s all

Oh Brrr! It’s Cold!

It’s been a chilly time lately and so, of course, I have been taking icy photos.

But first, an non icy photo that I rather like of a poor baldy dandelion!

'I'm dreading the frost!" said Daniel when he realised he was as bald as a coot and the Autumn was turning rapidly into Winter.

‘I’m dreading the frost!” said Daniel when he realised he was as bald as a coot and the Autumn was turning rapidly into Winter.

And here’s another dandelion after a heavy frost…

Even though Dave still had some seeds attached to his head, which the frost was resting on, he was still chilled to the core!

The little toadstools in my garden also took quite a hit of frost!

Ever had ice cream headache when being a little greedy with cold puddings? I guess that's how Tina, Terry and Tessa Toadstool feel this morning!

And some moss…

Matilda Moss thanked her lucky stars that her home faced the sun. At least by 12.30pm she would have thawed out!

My last photo is a little daisy…..oooh…cold!!!

Daisy knew that it was futile to try to come out now, but she was determined to keep her head up at all costs!
