Travel Theme: Green

Well what a great colour…one of my favourites! And it just so happens that Ailsa has chosen this colour for her Travel Theme this week. Check it out at via the following link….

I thought I’d start off with a very soft effect on this first photo…

"Hey!" whispered the moss, "It's Friday night and she's just had a large G and T....my guess is this post won't make much sense! But stick with it, there may be some not bad photos!"

This time ‘Soft Effect with Fungus!’

If I were a fungus, I might very well want to set my roots down in this place!

The next two photos are, I think, of the same sort of species, but one I found lying down and the other seemed to want to stand to attention!

Shoulders back!

Shoulders back!

Then the following one has been adorned with and joined by various fungi!

The large fungus is called "jelly fungus"...Can't think why!

And now…thankfully….I believe my dinner is ready-which is good as I need something to soften down the the effect of the G and T!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details 3

Anywhere I looked in this photo seemed fascinating with such lovely colours….

I haven’t photoshopped this in any way except to crop it a little…The colours are as they were in the woods!

This fungus was just a little further down the same tree.

Then I noticed one of the first signs of Spring….

That’s a Funny Name for a Chaffinch!

Today I’ve had one of those busy doing a lot sort of days but when you get to the end of it you wonder what you have done!

It snowed for most of the day and so it was hard to keep my lens dry and achieve good photos!

Anyway I thought I introduce Chertsey Chaffinch who I first met last week…

"Why is she calling me Chertsey...what a ridiculous name!" snapped Dave Chaffinch!

“Why is she calling me Chertsey…what a ridiculous name!” snapped Dave Chaffinch!

Then a little further along I saw some sheep on the other side of a stream….the one with the black face stared at me and then stamped her foot!! She seemed quite cross! Then she just appeared to decide to ignore my existence!

"I'd give her what for if she dared to come into this field!" Ewegenie siad bravely, all the while knowing that the woman with the camera would not cross the water anyway!

I rather liked this fungi growing on a tree….

Fergie Fungus tried hard to smile...he just needed a few more weeks!

Up and under!

"Oooh! Cheeky!" said Fergie when he realised where that woman had put her camera!

Anyone for a knobbly knees competition?

Ok then, here’s one snowy picture….

I just liked this one!Don't know why!

A Word a Week Photography Challenge: Round

Passion flowers in my back garden were just so beautiful. Sadly I accidentally killed them off! They didn’t like where I planted them!

I live and learn!

Now, Lupins and the water they catch-wonderful. They are still living in my garden and hoping for another good year!

A great year for fungus in the UK!

These flowers and fungus have all been a-ROUND for a while!

OK I know and I’m sorry for the poor pun! That’s all

Oh Brrr! It’s Cold!

It’s been a chilly time lately and so, of course, I have been taking icy photos.

But first, an non icy photo that I rather like of a poor baldy dandelion!

'I'm dreading the frost!" said Daniel when he realised he was as bald as a coot and the Autumn was turning rapidly into Winter.

‘I’m dreading the frost!” said Daniel when he realised he was as bald as a coot and the Autumn was turning rapidly into Winter.

And here’s another dandelion after a heavy frost…

Even though Dave still had some seeds attached to his head, which the frost was resting on, he was still chilled to the core!

The little toadstools in my garden also took quite a hit of frost!

Ever had ice cream headache when being a little greedy with cold puddings? I guess that's how Tina, Terry and Tessa Toadstool feel this morning!

And some moss…

Matilda Moss thanked her lucky stars that her home faced the sun. At least by 12.30pm she would have thawed out!

My last photo is a little daisy…..oooh…cold!!!

Daisy knew that it was futile to try to come out now, but she was determined to keep her head up at all costs!

Fungi, green iridescence and who’s that up ahead?

Well, as you may know if you had a peek at my blog yesterday, I am looking after my mother after she has had an operation on her wrist for carpel tunnel syndrome. Mind you I nearly stopped looking after her when she mentioned that she thought my woodstore (made by my own fair hands and several dozen brackets) had been poorly constructed!! Just because the roof isn’t big enough and the wood gets wet doesn’t mean it has a bad design!!!!!

I think I had better get on to fungi quick sharp….

Wet weather and fungi go together well as the next pictures will show you…

Surely this has to be a town for some creature?

A tiny creature town going up a hill?

Now this next photo, whilst the light is not brilliant, does still show how this fungus has grown around leaves….Quite weird I thought!

Strange but true!

Another lovely set/town/group of fungi…

Serweeeet!

This next photo has my rather unattractive looking boot in it and there is a reason for this! I wanted to be able to show how big the fungi was…

There was lots of this in my village churchyard.

Now for three aesthetically pleasing (well to me!) photos of fungi…

So cute!

Love this two tone one!

I’ve just glanced at the title and realised I must show something regarding the green iridescence statement. This was about the branches of a fir tree where we walked this morning-myself, my mother and her dog Rocky.

No spray cans involved…and no photoshop either!

And finally to address…who’s that up ahead?

I’ll leave you to guess!

Both my mother and her dog are caught up in their own thoughts I think!

That’s all!

Special Photo Challenge: Inspiration

What inspires me to write a blog is definitely nature and it has the most immense pull on me. I knew I wanted to go out today to find images for my next post, but for those of you who are not in the UK, I had better let you know about our weather at the moment. I believe you would call it blustery at the very least! Very strong winds indeed! And to demonstrate this, here’s a photo of me, taken by me in the fields behind my house!

My beloved hat that I bought in Australia has never flown off before….well before today!

I’d now like to show a selection of images that inspire and delight me, that make me always carry my camera and which fill me with excitement when downloading to my computer.

A beautiful poppy seed head adorned with a cobweb and morning dew.

A spider on his web in my garden…

Then there’s the humour of a horse taking part in Movember!!! (I have already published this but it’s very amusing!)

Marvellous moustache!

Generally, fungus fascinates me…

Fabulous Fungi

Then, of course, there are just beautiful flowers!

Often the beauty of something close up is amazing…

So there you have it, just some of the things that inspire me!

That’s all!
