“Come on Mr. Coot, play ball with me!” said Davy Dabchick!

“No,” replied Carl Coot, “Can’t you see I’m washing my feathers!”

So there I was at Marsworth reservoir, when a story began to unfold…..
Mrs. Coot was out with Calendra, her daughter, teaching her how to duck for tasty river weed…
“That’s right Calendra,” bipped Mrs. Coot (for that’s the noise they make), “Just give it a peck and Bob’s your uncle!”
Calendra spotted a particularly tasty looking bit and off she went!
She suddenly realised that the river weed was stuck on something…
It was then that her other reservoir friends noticed that she could be in trouble!
Calendra didn’t hear any of them so intent was she on getting that river weed!
Which is just what happened!
But without wishing to cut a long story short…..Don’t worry…..Calendra was fine after being rescued by her daddy, Mr. Coot, who decided for safety reasons to accompany Calendra whenever she went river weed fishing!
That’s All!

Wordless except to say I got rather caught up in the beautiful colours on a coot’s foot underwater!!!

Here’s the link to madness……
Whilst out walking by a lake today I noticed several wildfowl entertaining themselves!
“Oy Callum!” shouted Cornelius from the right side of the picture(!), “How about a race?”
“Ok!” said Callum perhaps a little unenthusiastically!
Cornelius set about organising Callum to the starting place….
“Righty-ho!” said Cornelius, ‘I found just the spot to start the race, over here Callum!”
Callum, however was not listening!
The race began and it has to be said that Cornelius stormed ahead!
The winner……
That’s All!
