A tale from the canal…..
Meet the Geese…..quietly enjoying an evening by the canal…..when who should they spot??
Yes…woman with a camera!
“Woman with a camera! Woman with a camera! Woman with a camera!” honked Taka (Taka Gander-Get it??)!
With a little quick goose thinking Taka honked “Don’t worry, I’ll distract her, she’s bound to follow me as I’m so very gorgeous! You can all rush to safety.”
Taka began to feel irritated that he couldn’t shake her off and turned to woman with camera and decided that glaring would probably do the trick!
Not all the geese were like Taka and a few moments later Goosen, who found Taka’s incessant honking pretty annoying, hissed something angrily at Taka!
“For crying out loud Taka, the woman is looking for photos with reflections in, so get a grip and quieten down” said Goosen who was also a Gander! (Get it?) “And maybe you should Taka break!” he added a little sarcastically I fear!
And with that, Taka sloped off!
And just for M-R…….
That’s All!

Last Saturday this post was featured over at
http://blogdramedy.wordpress.com
So today I thought I would post it here for your perusal 🙂
How Strange!
I love walking and walking by water is my favourite. But the other day, down by the riverside I noticed some rather strange happenings….
Someone else was curious too…Caractacus the Canadian Goose was intrigued….
“What the heck are they?” he spluttered hoping that everyone would realise that he was the one on the left and that his buddy, Callum-on the right, was superfluous to this bit of the post!
Then this….
Caractacus knew he had to get nearer and launched himself….
Caractacus loved it when the water did that lovely sploshy pattern thing, but all the same he was still focused on what was ahead of him!
Were his eyes deceiving him? Now odd things were happening to colours….
This duck has not been photoshopped or had any other photographic trickery! I haven’t seen one like him before either!
Now this got the attention of some other wildfowl….
But now there were two of them….
“Do you know what?” whispered Deidre Duck, “I sort of wish we had never gone through that weird bridge last week…we’ve have had so much attention that we’ve hardly had a minute to ourselves!”
“Hush now!” said Dandelus Drake, “Think of our bank balance and don’t let on where the bridge is! And anyway, I rather like your green overtones…you look quite marvellous darling!”
“Personally,” said Sidney to his partner Sandy, “I think the whole ‘go through the magic bridge and achieve all your dreams’ has become a millstone round or necks!”
Sandy nodded in agreement but alas, Sidney couldn’t see!
Caractacus found the bridge and this is all I could see of him…
And the magic bridge?
Oh ok….
That’s All!

Last December I participated in Blogfestivus 2012, which was a nine day short story writing challenge. This was hosted by Blogdramedy who has asked me to write a guest post on her blog.
This I have done and it has been published on her blog today!
Here’s the link if you want to go and see it!

Whilst in Marlow visiting previously mentioned mum, I forget to tell you about a few little confidential chats I had….
First there was Cecilia….
“There’s someone new in town and I’m not sure if he is one of us or not!” whispered Cecilia conspiratorially!
Who was she talking about?
Then Sandy Orangetop sidled up to me…
“I’m the only one who’s a bit different round here….what’s his game?” snarled Sandy in a most pompous way!
Something was ruffling feathers I could tell!
Then Greta came up and appeared most confused…
“He looks very like the other swans but there’s something about him….I don’t know what it is? He just seems a bit different! What should we do-what should we do?” gabbled Greta in a breathless sort of way!
And then I saw him…..
And rather like yesterday’s Robin, he looked this way
and that…..
“Oh dear oh dear!” said Seaton! “I had my tail feathers blow dried especially for today and still no one will talk to me!”
What a beautiful black swan!
Oh happy day for me!
Seaton was very lonely until good old Gunther Gull got everyone’s attention ….
“Birds of the River!” shouted Gunther, “Seaton is no different to the rest of you! I’m ashamed that you won’t speak to him…for goodness sake, sort yourselves out, remember your manners and ask him if he wants to play ‘Duck and Dive’ with you!”
Fortunately this is what happened…..
One last thing- this isn’t a very good picture, but I had to take it fast….
I had no idea he had any white bits on him at all!
Isn’t he beautiful!
That’s All!

Within the pen at the allotment, where I found Tanundra Turkey, were chickens and geese. So today I wish to introduce them properly to you. I must warn you that there is a little rivalry between the cockerels which adds an edge to their day to day living…..
Calvin is a Latin name meaning ‘Little Bald One’!
Here is his greatest rival!….
Chuck knew he had one up on Calvin….”Hah!” he said unpleasantly to no-one in particular , “That Calvin the Little Bald One will soon give up his reign when his harem see the whiskers I have been growing!”
Chuck is a Teutonic name meaning ‘Manly, full grown’!
Calandra is a Greek name meaning ‘Carefree, the lark bird’! I’m wondering if we might have a little bit of a floozy on our hands here!
Now the promised Geese….
Gertie and Graham Greylag knew that if they practised enough, they could make that romantic heart shape with their head and necks like the swans down at the river did!
Gilliam Goose loved it when the water was calm and serene and his reflection was as perfect as he was!
And That’s All!
