I cannot find what this bird (photo a little further down) is and I’d love to know what it’s called!
If you have seen any of my recent blogs you will know that I have been on holiday in Turkey. One of the places we went was Kayaköy which is near Fethiye in Southern Turkey.
Now Kayaköy is a ghost village whose history is all to do with the Greeks and the Turks after the World War 1. It has been abandoned and left to fall down for many years.
Kayaköy lives up to its name of Ghost Town!
“I don’t care whether you’re Greek, Turkish or even Welsh for that matter….I live here now so shove off!” said a tremendously petulant Sheila Sheep whilst guarding her front door!
As we began to climb up through the village we saw a rather sweet little bird. Now for the first bird identification help please…..
“No my name is not Oppletops, neither is it Wiggly Wagtail, nor is it Loggerhead Shrike and it certainly isn’t Rumplestiltskin!” said the bird, knowing that identification would be difficult even with google images!
How I wish I could find out what it is!
For now I will continue with my story and photos of Kayaköy…
Artsy Picture 1
Artsy Picture 2
We climbed and climbed through the village following some red and black stripes painted on rocks (I know…slightly odd but it got us to the top!)!
Here’s the view from there looking out over towards Ölüdeniz….
No we didn’t walk all the way there, a photo was quite enough!
I quite like this photo though I wish I hadn’t cut the top of the tree off. But in my defence I was bending upwards and backwards at quite an angle and could have fallen at any moment!
This next and last photo features another bird which I have no name for (no…not the ducks, the other ones!!!)!
The ducks eyed the other somewhat strange looking birds suspiciously. They wondered about the horn like appendage on their heads and the evil eye make up. It didn’t take the ducks long to realise that they were no match for the ‘birds with no name’ and they fled to the nearest duck pond!
So if you know what either bird is, I’d love to hear from you!
See Ya xx
