Crazy Horses!

So there we were, my son and his girlfriend out for a walk with my grandsons! We’d seen big dogs, gulls, birds and general wildlife. We were heading back to the car when we saw some horses/ponies in a field over the road. So with a 2 year old and a 3 year old what else can you do but go and feed them! (The horses not the grandsons!)

"What is anxious camera woman worrying about!" thought Seamus the pony, "Of course I'm not going to bite his fingers!"

“What is anxious camera woman worrying about!” thought Seamus the pony, “Of course I’m not going to bite his fingers! But my toenails could do with a cut!”

Then out of the blue and with a lot of noise, this horse came charging over, hell bent on biting poor old Seamus! (Made me jump a bit too I can tell you!)

"I'm gonna get you...I'm gonna get you and when I do I'm gonna force you to comb the burrs out of my tail and mane you unpleasant little pony!" snarled a very angryHarold Horse!

“I’m gonna get you…I’m gonna get you and when I do I’m gonna force you to comb the burrs out of my tail and mane you unpleasant little pony!” snarled a very angry Harold Horse!

Seamus made his way back when he thought the coast was clear!

"What's rattled his hay stack today!" said Seamus a little out of breath!

“What’s rattled his hay stack today!” said Seamus a little out of breath! “He can’t possibly have found out I covered him in those burrs!”

We thought it might just have been a little spat but Harold had a glint in his eye and not a shred of reason in his head!

He was so furious about the knotted mass in his tail and mane that he just went for Seamus!

Scary but exciting!

The other horses/ponies were trying to get between Harold and Seamus…

"I know he's behind you lot!" neighed Harold!

“I know he’s behind you lot!” neighed Harold! “And I’m coming to get him….”

And he did…..

Then this little mare seemed to put her back to him with the horse on the right backing her up so that he couldn’t get to Seamus!

But really…..surely my grandsons show ‘Lost in the Details’ just as well as some stuffy old stained glass windows….

and….quite frankly I think my grandsons are far more beautiful!

What is at the end of that stick?

Imagine coming face to face with a dog as tall as you are!

Second Time Round!

Last Saturday this post was featured over at

http://blogdramedy.wordpress.com

So today I thought I would post it here for your perusal 🙂

How Strange!

I love walking and walking by water is my favourite. But the other day, down by the riverside I noticed some rather strange happenings….

I know it's been cold in the UK...but icebergs?

I know it’s been cold in the UK…but icebergs?

Someone else was curious too…Caractacus the Canadian Goose was intrigued….

"What the heck are they? he spluttered hoping that everyone would realise that he was the one on the left and that his buddy, Callum, on the right was superfluous to this bit of the post!

“What the heck are they?” he spluttered hoping that everyone would realise that he was the one on the left and that his buddy, Callum-on the right, was superfluous to this bit of the post!

Then this….

Some upending gone on here I think!

Some upending gone on here I think!

Caractacus knew he had to get nearer and launched himself….

Callum was a little fed up to be left out but really he wasn't interested in the floating things!

Caractacus loved it when the water did that lovely sploshy pattern thing, but all the same he was still focused on what was ahead of him!

Were his eyes deceiving him? Now odd things were happening to colours….

This duck has not been photoshopped or had any other photographic trickery! I haven't seen one like him before either!

Now this got the attention of some other wildfowl….

Melinda Moorhen was briefly transfixed by the colours.....

But now there were two of them….

"Do you know what?" whispered Deidre Duck, "I sort of wish we had never gone through that weird bridge last week...we've have had so much attention that we've hardly had a minute to ourselves!""Hush now!" said Dandelus Drake, "Think of our bank balance and don't let on where the bridge is!"

“Hush now!” said Dandelus Drake, “Think of our bank balance and don’t let on where the bridge is! And anyway, I rather like your green overtones…you look quite marvellous darling!”

"Personally," said Sidney to his partner Sandy, "I think the whole 'go through the magic bridge and achieve all your dreams' had become a millstone round or necks!"Sandy nodded in agreement but alas, Sidney couldn't see!

Caractacus found the bridge and this is all I could see of him…

Oh Caractacus, have you been wise?

Oh Caractacus, have you been wise?

Caractacus' friends searched and searched....

Caractacus’ friends searched and searched….

And the magic bridge?

Oh ok….

Rather Pretty Places!

My first rather pretty place is somewhere I pass on the way home from the Dark Side (teaching), and appears as I am slowly adjusting my eyes to my real life (Bright Side).

The rather pretty field on the side of the road called and called.....so I visited and photo-ed!

Sparkly with green tumps!

Just to let you know-I cross over this river on my way to and from the Dark Side but decided to dangerously park up and take photos….

This place is called Water End.

And the obligatory zoom shot!

To finish I wish to introduce John Lewis the cat….

"Oy!" shouted John, "Can't you see I'm busy? Put yer camera away and leave me alone!"

Travel Theme: Gaudy

This week’s travel theme is Gaudy and this fine idea belongs to Ailsa at

http://wheresmybackpack.com/2013/02/08/travel-theme-gaudy/

Whilst walking in some local woods I saw a very strange sight……

Surely these holly leaves are the wrong colour and perhaps a little gaudy?

Or have they been spray painted by some antisocial unpleasantry?

Or have they been spray painted by some antisocial unpleasantry?

Walking on a little further I think I found just who the antisocial unpleasantries were!

If you’re going to commit a crime, at least make sure no one can pin it on you (not really good advice I know), especially if there is evidence of it all over yourself!….

The gang of 4 quietly chewed the cud not realising that the spray paint had spilled out onto their fleeces! Sadly, as could be said to be proved in this case, sheep are thought to maybe be colour blind!

Where have they hidden the cans?

In the UK we have something called ASBOs which are ‘Antisocial Behaviour Orders’ which can prevent those with them from going to certain places or hopefully stop them from misbehaving.

This Badass group of sheep all have ASSBOs! ‘Anti-social Sheep Behaviour Order’.

I fear the next step may be prison!!

Hey Mr. Swan-Don’t Bury your Head Like an Ostrich-You’re a Natural in Front of the Camera!

I went to the canal today, to where I used to walk my dogs when I had them.

The water was still and when I stood still, all manner of small creatures became apparent! Today, however I will concentrate on Sirus Swan….

Really Sirus, don't be shy!

Really Sirus, don’t be shy!

Look you’re making Gareth Gull shriek up there on the telegraph pole!

"A swan without a head...a swan without a head....a swan without a head!" squawked Gareth to anyone who would listen!

“A swan without a head…a swan without a head….a swan without a head!” squawked Gareth to anyone who would listen!

And look who was listening on the other side of the canal….

Ridley stopped nibbling to look at what all the fuss was about....

Ridley stopped nibbling to look at what all the fuss was about….

But by this stage Sirus had decided to pose with every white feather on his body for the next 10 minutes….

"Ok'" said Sirus, "Do you like my wings up in the 'protect the cygnets' sort of way?"

“Ok'” said Sirus remembering just who he was, “Do you like my wings up in the ‘protect the cygnets’ sort of way?”

Oh yes I do!

But where is your 'go faster' stripe to go with that pose Sirus?

But where are your ‘go faster’ stripes to go with that pose Sirus?

"Hold on hold on'" said Sirus in a muted sort of way, "I need to check I still look fine!"

Oh you do!

But this is my favourite…..

That’s a Funny Name for a Chaffinch!

Today I’ve had one of those busy doing a lot sort of days but when you get to the end of it you wonder what you have done!

It snowed for most of the day and so it was hard to keep my lens dry and achieve good photos!

Anyway I thought I introduce Chertsey Chaffinch who I first met last week…

"Why is she calling me Chertsey...what a ridiculous name!" snapped Dave Chaffinch!

“Why is she calling me Chertsey…what a ridiculous name!” snapped Dave Chaffinch!

Then a little further along I saw some sheep on the other side of a stream….the one with the black face stared at me and then stamped her foot!! She seemed quite cross! Then she just appeared to decide to ignore my existence!

"I'd give her what for if she dared to come into this field!" Ewegenie siad bravely, all the while knowing that the woman with the camera would not cross the water anyway!

I rather liked this fungi growing on a tree….

Fergie Fungus tried hard to smile...he just needed a few more weeks!

Up and under!

"Oooh! Cheeky!" said Fergie when he realised where that woman had put her camera!

Anyone for a knobbly knees competition?

Happy Birthday Mum!

She won’t like me telling you…oh no!

But I’m going to anyway as I am very proud of the fact that my dearest mama is 82 today!

Here she is by the river in Marlow after we consumed far too much lunch!

I said to look wistfully out over the water and she obeyed!

I said to look wistfully out over the water and she obeyed!

At this point I have to tell you that my large and full belly bumped the camera as I was walking along and changed the settings thus resulting in all the pictures having a strange bluey tint. I have tried to fix this but to no avail as you can see.

I then forced my mother (Yes…on her birthday!) to find things to photograph…..

Voila!
