Hi, I’m Liz and I am in the process of changing my life.
I love writing and photography and am enjoying doing both of these interests at any time of the day or night (though you may notice a lack of night time photos as I am mostly asleep!).
I have been a teacher for most of my adult life….but no longer!! I have left the profession in order to explore other avenues. Exciting and yet very scary.
I take my camera everywhere with me.
Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy my blogs.
Fabulous images!
Hi from your newest reader π What kind of flower is that? And did I just saw a blue dragonfly? Great photos Liz π
Thanks again.i think it’s from the aster family-sort of daisy like. The bright blue dragonfly was amazing, but there is a huge blue and green one in another one of my blogs. π
Amazing. You did a superb job capturing dragonflies. I’ll be sure to check out your other posts. Can you capture fire flies? hehe π
Those darned fireflies eh? Maybe one day? Thanks for looking through my blogs, and glad you like them. I loved your root ginger men-excellent ideas π
A very nice introduction my friend and I will be
calling here again soon to take the tour, in the
meantime I wish you a very nice evening, and
a wondrously enjoyable Friday π
Androgoth
Why thank you and I hope your Friday is also wondrously superb. Thanks for visiting and commenting π
Me too…. At a crossroads & starting a blog as I head out into unchartered waters….. Maybe blogging is like letting the coastguard know your plans before sailing off into the sunset….. ?
Yes, but do you keep letting the coastguard know where you are or trust yourself after a while? Scary?? π
I think that very much depends on what kind of sailor you are! Some always check in because that’s what you are supposed to do, other’s throw caution to the wind π
Thanks for liking my Reflections post! I have started my Blog because I am cutting back my work, and want to spend time to improve my writing and photography. I’ll follow your Blog, and hope you’ll follow mine too. :0
Sounds like a fine deal…will have a look now π
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving the “like”.
I’ve enjoyed looking at the pictures in yours. Keep sharing! π
Thank you π
Hello from Indonesia!
Thank you for liking my post on my blog! I hope you enjoy it π
You have nice pictures here!
Thank you and I enjoyed looking round your blog π
hi thanks for liking one of y posy in mu blog. ive got to explore your site too. anyway, that third picture looks familiar to me. is that one of the hallways of Al Alam Palace in Muscat Oman?
Yes it is! I went to Muscat in April this year to see my sister in law. Sadly I didn’t see the dam that featured in your blog. Tink it might be a must the next time we go. Thanks for commenting π
Just a trivia..that ceremonial place was also featured in the AMAZING RACE season 17 episode 8 when the contenders travel from Russia to Oman. anyway. you have to visit the DAM..and i suggest don’t just go there for sightseeing..try also swimming down the river stream.
I think I will next time as it looks amazing and will definitely do the swimming. It’s quite a long way from Muscat though isn’t it? π
Keep it up.
Hi, thanks for looking and I certainly hope too π

I know and you are right. I knew I liked taking photos but never thought it would mean as much to me as it does now! Thank you π
Thanks for your visit to my blog. You have some great images on yours! That orange daisy flower is a gazania, a native of South Africa, and an environmental weed in country Victoria (Aus). It comes in glorious colours, though!
Thank you. Well it’s a beautiful flower….shhhh….don’t let it know its considered a weed in Australia! π
Hi Liz! Hope things are well with you and yours. Happy 2013 by the way. π
During my big closed for the holidays absence from Blogdramedy, I forgot to issue an invite to guest blog on my blog. I found your stories of One-Horn hilarious and if you’re interested, I’d love to have you write something for Blogdramedy. Shoot me an email at blogdramedy@gmail.com and let me know.

Well I thought it was a great photo and perfect for Wordless Wednesday! Really glad you like my photos and were amused π
Me too! The teaching, the camera in the hand all the time and the love of nature. Enjoy your retirement – I barely have time to fit in all I want to do – it is indeed an exciting time π
Thank you-I still don’t know whether some things are brighter and more beautiful or I am noticing them more! π
Thank you for visiting my Blog and liking my post Personal Best. I have so much admiration for you in leaving the security of the teaching profession to attempt some new challenges and your images are simply stunning. Good Luck!

Bonjour Liz,

Thanks Dan, I love taking close up photos, though I force myself to take an occasional panoramic/long shot!! It’s been great so far.
Liz

Hi Liz
So there is another sad soul who wanders along a canal bank, camera in hand, looking at everything and anything that will feed it’s voracious appetite.
The casual observer must think us quite mad – l dont care – l just love it as you obviously do as it shines through allof your work.
Perhaps we should form the canal club – it would make interesting pictures from around the world – maybe not as l suppose one never ending straight stretch of water is much like any other!!!
Regards
Dan
Hi Dan,
I can’t help myself with the canal…it’s those ducks too…they draw me in. I have so many photos of ducks!! And yes…my peering into the hedgerows and leaning dangerously over the canal edge has been commented on a few times! But like you….I don’t care. However, I have also made a few people jump when I have emerged backwards from a hedge!! π
Wordpress Canal Club eh? Who knows!
Oh by the way, lots of people think I’m Elle…so ten out of ten for paying attention! Mind you I don’t mind being called Elle at all!!
Liz π
You have a lovely and very inspiring blog!
Dina
That’s very kind of you to say. I enjoying ‘doing’ lighthearted posts and hope other people enjoy them too! Thank you π

Hi Liz,
Beautiful images.
Enjoyed your images from the natural world.
Have a nice day.
Thank you very much and thanks for visiting π
Wow!!! What amazing photographs! I especially love your jolly Robin, he was definitely a bit of a poser !!… I was just looking at the beautiful flower card you gave me for my birthday which I have up in the kitchen, and thought I would have a nose at your other picture, which are truly stunning. You are a talented lady ( and the best story teller ever !)..xx
Well Heidi, what a lovely surprise! And thank you very much! Now you know why I didn’t want to work afternoonsβ¦when would I get to take photos! Thank you very much again and see you soon x π
I’ll be back! Great photo and congrats on quitting the teacher job! I love my job, but it’s killing me. Thinking of leaving my teaching because there is too much paper work and stress. Good luck!
You’re not wrong about the paperwork. I must confess to doing a little teaching sometimesβ¦always nice to have the cash! But nothing permanent! Thanks π
Hello Liz, just stumbled upon your blog and enjoyed your work so much π
You have a great eye for photography and the macro shots are really amazing…

Best wishes.
n Thanks for visiting my blog and appreciating my work.
Thank you very much π It was a pleasure π
Hi Liz! Love your photos. The little ladybug is so cute. I was also a teacher for many years. Great to meet you today. π Sylvia
Hi Sylvia, thank you very much. Glad you like my photos. I’m going to come and visit you now π
Hi Elle. Thanks for calling by my blog and following. I like the picture of the Robin in the header of your blog. I look forward to seeing your work.
Best wishes,
Hugh
My pleasure. I may be joining in your challenges! π
I totally endorse the idea of giving up the classroom for life in the outside world. Its what I did. There is a whole world out there to be explored and appreciated. Photography helps me to do this . The images on this page are great!
I have to be honest and say I do a little part time teaching now but it doesn’t take over my life and when I’m not there it doesn’t consume my every thought. Thank you π
I did a bit of part time then …..properly retired. It’s great !
Enjoy!! I’d sort of like to start something else but I’m not sure what yet! Still thinking!! π
The right thing will just appear and you’ll be chilled enough to recognise it. Exciting times.
Here’s hoping! Thanks π
I so much envy your courage… in leaving the profession! I am a teacher too. Although I love teaching, I would so much like changing my life (profession) to explore painting and all art related world.
Thank you, though I have to confess to not updating recently….I now teach for a couple of days a week which brings with it much less pressure than full time-I have to say I’m really glad I made that break initially as I have been able to pick and choose what I wanted to do! Could you go part time? π
Wish I could π¦ I must wait at least till my kids reach 16… meanwhile I will keep on trying to persue my interests
Yes, my children were win their 20s when I stopped! And…always good to keep interests gently bubbling in the background! π

Nice to meet you! I love writing and photography too, and I used to be a teacher! But I gave it all up, we bought a boat and sailed it from UK to Greece five years ago.
Hi, nice to meet you too. Wow that sounds an amazing adventure-are you still travelling? Actually I think I’ll visit you blog right now! π
Thanks. Boat is now out the water for the winter, we are back in UK. I am enjoying luxuries such as a washing machine, flushing loo, and watching tv!
Over here from Helen’s blog, Photophile. You’ve some great photography on here and I look forward to exploring it.
Hi Hugh, thank you very much. I shall come and visit you too π
