About

I can’t help myself when it comes to nature!

Hi, I’m Liz and I am in the process of changing my life.

I love writing and photography and am enjoying doing both of these interests at any time of the day or night (though you may notice a lack of night time photos as I am mostly asleep!).

I have been a teacher for most of my adult life….but no longer!! I have left the profession in order to explore other avenues. Exciting and yet very scary.

So beautiful!

I take my camera everywhere with me.

  2. Me too…. At a crossroads & starting a blog as I head out into unchartered waters….. Maybe blogging is like letting the coastguard know your plans before sailing off into the sunset….. ?

  3. Thanks for liking my Reflections post! I have started my Blog because I am cutting back my work, and want to spend time to improve my writing and photography. I’ll follow your Blog, and hope you’ll follow mine too. :0

  5. hi thanks for liking one of y posy in mu blog. ive got to explore your site too. anyway, that third picture looks familiar to me. is that one of the hallways of Al Alam Palace in Muscat Oman?

    • Yes it is! I went to Muscat in April this year to see my sister in law. Sadly I didn’t see the dam that featured in your blog. Tink it might be a must the next time we go. Thanks for commenting πŸ™‚

      • Just a trivia..that ceremonial place was also featured in the AMAZING RACE season 17 episode 8 when the contenders travel from Russia to Oman. anyway. you have to visit the DAM..and i suggest don’t just go there for sightseeing..try also swimming down the river stream.

  6. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and liking my submission for Word a Week Photo challenge – Clouds!

  8. It’s always nerve-wracking to leave the comfort of the familiar, but so exciting and rewarding to follow your passion! Always take your camera and keep writing! Best wishes.

  9. Thanks for your visit to my blog. You have some great images on yours! That orange daisy flower is a gazania, a native of South Africa, and an environmental weed in country Victoria (Aus). It comes in glorious colours, though!

  10. Hi Liz! Hope things are well with you and yours. Happy 2013 by the way. πŸ™‚

During my big closed for the holidays absence from Blogdramedy, I forgot to issue an invite to guest blog on my blog. I found your stories of One-Horn hilarious and if you’re interested, I’d love to have you write something for Blogdramedy. Shoot me an email at blogdramedy@gmail.com and let me know.

    Cheers,
    BD

  11. Me too! The teaching, the camera in the hand all the time and the love of nature. Enjoy your retirement – I barely have time to fit in all I want to do – it is indeed an exciting time πŸ™‚

  12. Thank you for visiting my Blog and liking my post Personal Best. I have so much admiration for you in leaving the security of the teaching profession to attempt some new challenges and your images are simply stunning. Good Luck!

  13. Thanks for visiting my blog and liking my pictures, you have some great posts on here i really enjoyed having a look around, i am following and will visit again πŸ™‚

  14. Hi Liz

So there is another sad soul who wanders along a canal bank, camera in hand, looking at everything and anything that will feed it’s voracious appetite.

The casual observer must think us quite mad – l dont care – l just love it as you obviously do as it shines through allof your work.

Perhaps we should form the canal club – it would make interesting pictures from around the world – maybe not as l suppose one never ending straight stretch of water is much like any other!!!

    Regards

    Dan

    • Hi Dan,
I can’t help myself with the canal…it’s those ducks too…they draw me in. I have so many photos of ducks!! And yes…my peering into the hedgerows and leaning dangerously over the canal edge has been commented on a few times! But like you….I don’t care. However, I have also made a few people jump when I have emerged backwards from a hedge!! πŸ˜‰
Wordpress Canal Club eh? Who knows!
Oh by the way, lots of people think I’m Elle…so ten out of ten for paying attention! Mind you I don’t mind being called Elle at all!!
      Liz πŸ˜‰

  15. So Liz, you decided to join the small clan of Uncle Spike followers, sometimes known as The Spikey’s…. That makes me a happy blogger now – I really appreciate you making that special mouse click.
Hope you like my upcoming posts and if you get bored one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too.
If you have any likes, dislikes or suggestions about my blog, just let me know, either through β€˜comments’ or via email. Always welcome reader input πŸ™‚

  16. Wow!!! What amazing photographs! I especially love your jolly Robin, he was definitely a bit of a poser !!… I was just looking at the beautiful flower card you gave me for my birthday which I have up in the kitchen, and thought I would have a nose at your other picture, which are truly stunning. You are a talented lady ( and the best story teller ever !)..xx

    • Well Heidi, what a lovely surprise! And thank you very much! Now you know why I didn’t want to work afternoons…when would I get to take photos! Thank you very much again and see you soon x πŸ™‚

  17. I’ll be back! Great photo and congrats on quitting the teacher job! I love my job, but it’s killing me. Thinking of leaving my teaching because there is too much paper work and stress. Good luck!

  18. Hello Liz, just stumbled upon your blog and enjoyed your work so much πŸ™‚

You have a great eye for photography and the macro shots are really amazing…

    Have a great time πŸ™‚

  19. I totally endorse the idea of giving up the classroom for life in the outside world. Its what I did. There is a whole world out there to be explored and appreciated. Photography helps me to do this . The images on this page are great!

  20. I so much envy your courage… in leaving the profession! I am a teacher too. Although I love teaching, I would so much like changing my life (profession) to explore painting and all art related world.

    • Thank you, though I have to confess to not updating recently….I now teach for a couple of days a week which brings with it much less pressure than full time-I have to say I’m really glad I made that break initially as I have been able to pick and choose what I wanted to do! Could you go part time? πŸ™‚

      • Wish I could 😦 I must wait at least till my kids reach 16… meanwhile I will keep on trying to persue my interests
