Weekly Photo Challenge: Oops!

OOPS!’

IMG_2020

Meet Terry Turtle, a fine young fella

He’s looking for some friends

It’s not long before some turn up

And round and round they wend……

IMG_2024But Terry has his eye upon one lass in particular

He likes her shell and fine back feet

And wants her perpendicular!

What happens next I won’t describe

It might be impolite

But what Genevieve the Guinea fowl sees…..

It gives her quite a fright…..

"Oh my goodness gracious me You simply won't believe it Avert your eyes birds fair and fowl You just could not conceive it!!"

“Oh my goodness gracious me
You simply won’t believe it
Avert your eyes birds fair and fowl
You just could not conceive it!!”

Peter Peacock heard her squawks and turned his head to the right

And what he saw down in the pool was really quite a sight!

Peter shouted over to his mate who was sitting on a pole

Paul

Paul

Paul took advice and turned away

To ponder population control!

Another peacock with an eye for some fun

Ran over towards the pond

But what he saw made him flee to his perch With buried head he would not respond!

But what he saw made him flee to his perch
With buried head he would not respond!

And all the birds both fair and fowl

They took on Gen’s advice

They cast their eyes down to the floor

And thought of all things nice!

(Did you ever see this view of a peacock?)

(Did you ever see this view of a peacock?)

Warren Woodchuck Woodchuck Duck (Had to say that twice for the rhyme)

Said he’d brave the water

But when he got there he surely saw Some things he should'na oughter

But when he got there he surely saw
Some things he should’na oughter

Oh Terry Turtle you saucy beast You've had your wicked way And now you're hitching a ride back home I don't know what to say!

Oh Terry Turtle you saucy beast
You’ve had your wicked way
And now you’re hitching a ride back home
I don’t know what to say!

That’s All!

See Ya xx

Quick update…I have just realised (told by my dearly beloved) that Terry is a terrapin!!!

Ah well!

  1. The first photo of Paul from behind, with his glorious “cape”–he looks ready for the opera–
    The guinea fowl (I laughed)–
The variegated peacock with eyes closed–
and the mating turtles or terrapins (I do not know the difference and did not google–am close to signing off now–haven’t lunched yet and it’s 8:30pm here…)

Loved all of these. Plus the fun and cleverness of your verse. You are sharp, aren’tcha?

    • Oh but my you’re kind giving such complements when I know you’re a ferocious talent with words!! Guinea fowl, such a ridiculous bird….just comical-really should be given her own show! But have you had your lunch yet….’tis many days later, you must be starving! Here’s to the new year being a good one! 😉

      • “a ferocious talent with words”. Golly. Would that there were plans for me to have a tombstone, or even an obituary, someday, and to know that those generous words with which you’ve so delighted me would appear. But alas: The good words are oft interred with our bones.

        😥

(Actually, my bones won’t be saved, either, so… Pffft!!)

Yes, I’ve eaten, thank you, but remarkably, I find myself hungry again. It must be the writing does it.

    • No bones and no tombstone….. but the ether will be filled with the reverberations of words written and said and laughs laughed and blogs blogged and….mmmmm dinnertime….bye

Go on.....say something to me! You know you want to! Dot knows you want to too!
