Rome

What a wonderful time we had in Rome….but oooh! My knees!! What a lot of walking!

So whilst I still have lots of photos to show, today I just want to show various photos of Rome…..

This is looking out over the Forum….everything is just so huge!

This was taken at Palentine Hill which is close to the Colosseum and the Forum. It is beautiful, calm and green with huge trees. You would not believe it is in a large city!

Caught these bells in the act of ringing!

These next three were all around Capitoline Hill where there was the most amazing museum with so many marble sculptures.

At the beginning of the week we went to the Vatican….I don’t think I will ever comprehend the wealth or anything much else to do with the Vatican….but there is a lot of beautiful things there…..

But this next slightly more close up is my favourite of this bunch of photos!

    • There were many many irreverent gulls! It is really worth a visit. You can’t go more than 3 feet without some piece of art/sculpture etc being right in front of your eyes. It’s also not like a city….I can’t explain but it’s much more cosy than a city!?!

  1. Thank all the gods (the ones who used to be up around the top of the Vatican, but have been replaced by ‘saints’) for the seagull, or there would’ve been only human wildlife, Lizzie !
I LOVE that globe: it’s stupendously wonderful.

    • That globe needed to be hugged and touched and smoothed over…it was so tactile but of course…..would that have been allowed?? I think not with those vatican officials! But I agree….I loved it too! 🙂

Go on.....say something to me! You know you want to! Dot knows you want to too!
