Whilst out looking for things to scrump (countryside pilfering!) and discovering that the local damsons need another week to ripen, I spotted some very forlorn looking leaves. Well, they weren’t so much leaves as leaf stalks!
Yes….some cabbage white caterpillars had found a home in the foliage and then focused on their eating!
The large family Cabbagium Cabbagious-aka The Cabbage-Whites-were out for the day. They left promptly at 9 o’ clock!
As usual, young Claudius Cabbage-White couldn’t concentrate and decided to indulge in some hanging acrobatics!
Of course, Claudius fell off the leaf-right down to the bottom of the plant!
So down the Family Cabbage-White went in search of poor young Claudius!
They snacked on the journey of course and made short work of any foliage in their way!
When they found him, Mummy Cabbage-White made sure he was always in her sight!
But once he was as big as he was going to get, it was evident that Claudius had still not learned his lesson!
See Ya xx
PS I do, of course, know that caterpillars can’t be mummies and daddies to each other…it’s just poetic licence!
