So here’s the Red Lily Beetle, found whilst walking through grassland….
So…a fact or two about these beetles:
1) They emit a high pitched squeak when they are disturbed!!!!
2) The larvae cover themselves in excrement as they feed-yeuch!
“Eeeek eeeek….I’m being disturbed, danger, danger, leave me alone!” squeaked Rover the Red Lily Beetle!
Moving on!
The other critter who was posing in the evening light on some lovely blossom…..
“Tum te tum te tum!” hummed Phineas Fly,
as he was feeling quite pleased with the quality of the nectar that evening!

Rover looks scary, how big is it? I would love to hear him squeak.
I guess he’s nearly a centimetre long and I don’t know how loud his squeak is!!! 🙂
The beetle’s pretty, but definitely sounds like it needs to work on its inappropriate behavior. 🙂
