Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting

Solomon’s Seal is a beautiful plant that is flowering now in the UK…..

I thought they were called Solomon's tears...you can see why I thought that perhaps?

A little closer.....

A little closer…..

....and yet even closer!

….and yet even closer!

However, at this time of year, the grub of the Solomon’s seal sawfly gets its greedy little champers around the plant and completely destroys it….”death by big appetite” would be how I would describe it!

My mum has these beautiful plants in her garden and thought that even though the little caterpillar like creatures (sorry have no photo)  were devouring her plants, there would at least be some rather beautiful butterfly at the end of it!

But NO!!!

A little googling and we found that these caterpillar like creatures were the young of the Solomon’s seal sawfly….ooooh err!

Look at him!!

Rather unpleasantly, Sirius Sawfly is quite pleased that he has fooled my mother all those years!! Bad Sirius!!

So rather sadly, my mother’s Solomon’s seal plants have a rather fleeting existence!!!

That’s All!

See Ya xx
